Birrarung – A Kayaking Adventure
The Birrarung flows from the mountains of the Central Highlands that form the section of the Great Dividing Range in central Victoria. Commonly known as the Yarra River, the Birrarung, meaning ‘river of mists’ in the Woiwurrung language, is a river that evolves and meanders through many different landscapes on its journey from the mountains to the sea.
During the shorter days of this year, I took time exploring and filming the section of the Birrarrung that carves its way through Wonga Park. I always feel so privileged to be able to experience deeply cultural and naturally beautiful places such as the Birrarung.
Enjoy this short film I made of my adventures on the Birrarung.
I acknowledge the traditional owners of the land. The Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation. I acknowledge elders past, present and emerging and I pay my respects to them and the spirits that guard the land.
